What type of stencil is best suited for lead-free paste print applications?
DEK has conducted an incredible amount of in-depth research on this subject and, over the course of several studies, has concluded that both electroformed and laser cut nickel stencils deliver superior paste release of the higher viscosity lead-free materials. From a price/performance perspective, however, we recommend using laser-cut nickel stencils, which are offered as part of the VectorGuard™ stencil system.
While our research has proven these results regarding laser-cut nickel stencils, this is now being validated by our customers around the globe. Improved lead-free paste release is the primary benefit, of course, but customers are also discovering that the nickel stencils also have a longer product life cycle than stainless steel. Plus, the delivery time for nickel stencils is comparable to the turnaround time for traditional stainless steel products so, for lead-free, the choice really is obvious.
